Since I first wrote this blog post, Opera have released a new version. The latest version (10.5) is faster and has much better support for the latest CSS style sheets.

I’ll be coming back soon to update this post, but until then Opera is well worth a look and especially in Windows 7 may the new best choice.

Some well written sites may not pass the CSS validation as they use browser specific styles (e.g. styles that only work in Firefox or Safari).

While these pages are not actually valid, this is not necessarily a problem. So if you see a few CSS errors in a page, there is no need to rule the designer out. On the other hand 72 errors is a good sign to stay clear.

Thanks for the comment mrscincali, it’s useful to know some specific examples of shopping cart systems.

Even though there is no ongoing cost, there is still a setup cost and the paypal processing fee. But this looks like a good solution for people who might not sell something every month as after the intial cost the only other expenses are when you actually sell something.
