Alternative text (SEO basics)

Have you ever noticed that often when you hover over an image you get a little tool tip describing the image. That description is know as alternative text. The main use for alternative text is to describe an image for people who either don’t have images enabled or can’t see the image because they have a visual impairment. Search engines also use alternative text for search results, especially image searches.
